When the Tigers played UGA, former Missouri coach Gary Pinkel was honored
Gary Pinkel received some advise from a former college football buddy while he was considering quitting his head coaching position at Toledo and relocating to Missouri.
Pinkel recalled Nick Saban telling him, "Don't go there." "I had quite a few guys tell me that,"
It's a good thing Pinkel didn't follow the advice of his friend, the powerful Alabama coach.
Pinkel won the most games over his 15 seasons at Mizzou and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Pinkel was honoured on the field for his Hall of Fame recognition during the opening frame of Saturday's contest versus Georgia, which was rated #1.
Teams under Pinkel's direction at Missouri won 118 games, had 10 bowl appearances, and claimed four division titles—two in the SEC and two in the Big 12.
