Applications for the construction of a Costco Wholesale facility next to a Home Depot close to the Camarillo Airport have been made.
The city received the initial paperwork from Costco Wholesale on November 14 for the construction of a 169,397-square-foot retail warehouse and fueling station.
Costco plans to start operations in the middle to end of 2024.
Oxnard, Simi Valley, and Westlake Village are home to Costco, a retailer famous for its bulk purchases of goods and $1.50 hotdogs.
The city will perform an environmental evaluation while it considers project applications.
A public hearing for the proposal will then be held before the Planning Commission.
The city may grant Costco a building permit following a 10-day appeal period and the fulfilment of additional permitting criteria.
