$1.337 billion

Third-largest US lottery jackpot won by 2, 2 claim Mega Millions prize

The $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot has been claimed by two persons who choose to remain anonymous.

When only one late-July lottery ticket was sold in a Chicago suburb, choosing to accept a $780.5 million lump sum settlement.

Winners who wanted to stay anonymous had until September 27 to decide whether they wanted the lump sum reward or not.

According to the Illinois Lottery, the winners of the Mega Millions must be utterly "over the moon."

At least 16 states allow winners to remain nameless, with Illinois being one of them.

A Speedway gas station and convenience shop in Des Plaines sold one jackpot-winning ticket.

The lucky numbers were 13, 36, 45, 57, 67, and Mega Ball was 14.
